The mushy stuff:
This past year I have had the honor and joy of working as a volunteer designer for Maya’s Hope. Maya and her incredible volunteer team has accomplished so much this year – big congrats on all you’ve been able to do for children in Ukraine and the Philippines!

In case you aren’t familiar — Maya’s Hope was started by Maya Rowencak, and works to send aid and hope to orphanages around the world. You can keep up with Maya’s Hope on Facebook and Twitter (@MayasHope), and stay tuned for the launch of mayashope.org!

At long last, Daddy Can You?, by first time author Darrin Millar, is available for purchase. Our book has been self-published and distributed far and wide! Developing logos is one of my favorite tasks. I remember working with my brother, as kids,  on a new logo for my dad’s company. We spent hours on the living room floor coming up with all sorts of ideas – all of which my dad proudly brought into work to show the boss.

So without further ado, I have two recently completed logo projects I’ve been itching to share… read more after the jump…

J’adore Love – gorgeous name and lots of fun elements to work with. J’adore Love photographers, Efrain and Jen were a blast to work with on this project; their creative energy and amazing photography work was a huge inspiration in the creation of their logo. I think my favorite part of the final product is the flourish, underscoring the layers of text and abstractly calling into mind a telescopic lens! Needless to say, absolutely looking forward to future projects with the J’adore Love team!

Gossett’s Farm Market - This intricate logo required more attention to the development of an iconic illustration, than a more graphic or type-based logo. Creating such a large vector illustration was a great challenge and barrels of fun (ha ha… barrels)! After a various initial concepts featuring the truck at different angles and testing different color combinations – we achieved our final result: voila!

“Maya’s Hope strives to send aid and hope to children throughout the world. Our main focus is to send medicines, clothing, books and other basic necessities to orphanages in great need, with a current focus on orphanages in the Philippines and Ukraine.”

After just completing my first project with the MH team (print/web-ready sponsorship sheet design), I am definitely looking forward to the exciting projects ahead! Maya and the MH team are incredibly resourceful, hard-working and most importantly, passionate – and it is incredibly humbling to be a part of such an important effort!
